Hello! I’m Audrey. Founder of Write In Consulting. College admissions counselor. Master motivator. Champion of teenagers and young adults.
Writing is one of my true loves, and my senior year at Gunn High School I got a phone call from the dean of admissions at the University of Chicago letting me know that out of 15,000+ applications, my essay was one of the very best. My love for the art of the personal admissions essay was clinched, and I enrolled! After my freshman year, I transferred to Stanford, where I graduated with a degree in Drama (the ultimate way to study creative writing, psychology, sociology, and visual art). And yes, I took computer programming and astrophysics and French too!
I have privately tutored, taught for the Palo Alto Unified School District, and worked as an academic success coach and an essay editor and college admissions counselor for two prominent San Francisco Bay Area educational consulting companies. In addition to college admissions counseling, writing tutoring, and academic and personal coaching, I am a SAG-AFTRA actor who works in film and television. Every session we have will be fun and inspiring! I’m an avid weightlifter (obsessed with my gym), devoted reader (100+ books/year), and debuted my writing on air at NPR and onscreen at Cannes.
My students have gotten into top schools including Stanford, Princeton, Yale, Barnard, U Penn, Cornell, Duke, Rice, Amherst, Middlebury, Swarthmore, MIT, Carnegie Mellon, Case Western, Georgetown, St. Andrews, King’s College London, Reed, Oberlin, Vassar, Vanderbilt, Emory, Wellesley, Bard, Occidental, Northwestern, Northeastern, Boston University, University of Michigan, University of Washington, University of Texas Austin, University of North Carolina Chapel Hill, University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, UCLA, UC Berkeley, University of Southern California, New York University (most notably Stern and Tisch), the University of Chicago…and many, many more. They major in the humanities (sociology, psychology, political science, history), the sciences (biology, engineering, computer science), and the arts (drama, music, visual art). The best wins are those applicants who don’t fit the steep statistics for the school, but through our work together are able to cultivate curricular and extracurricular wins and write fantastic essays that garner acceptance letters.
Often my students hail from northern and southern California but I have coached teenagers in Washington, Oregon, Colorado, Nevada, Maryland, Virginia, Minnesota, New Jersey, New York, Puerto Rico, England, Italy, Turkey, Hong Kong, Singapore, and India. On any given Sunday I tend to cross multiple time zones—the Sagittarius dream come true.
