The students I work with are highly intelligent, verbal, kind, thoughtful, and open; happy to have complex conversations about many topics; accomplished in at least one but often multiple arenas; passionate about social justice; have great senses of humor; hold themselves to a high standard; and tend to be a little whimsical.
The parents of the students I work with are supportive of their teenager taking full responsibility under my guidance and comfortable with respecting the space we need to do our great work.
Does this sound like you and yours? If so, I have tailored everything I do to helping you exponentially grow and thrive.

College Admissions Prep Counseling // There is so much we can do early on! Get you involved in great activities during the school year and over the summer, keep you on track with academics, develop your interests and intended college major(s), and research universities. We can tune up your ability to think, read, and write—this is really the crown jewel of my prep counseling—as well as give you extra support in dealing with high school that can make all the difference. One hour Zoom meetings are held every other week with follow-up notes on assigned homework.
Sophomores begin working with me either Fall Session (late August – early December) or Winter/Spring Session (January – April) with an optional Summer Session (June – July). Juniors work with me during Fall Session (late August – early December) followed by Winter/Spring Session, which is paired with App Season (see below) as Year of Transformation.
College Admissions Counseling // We’ll start working on writing your college app essays in June of your junior year and work through late November of your senior year for maximum impact on college applications. Thanks to the first part of Year of Transformation, you’ll come into the process with pages and pages of drafts filled with exploration of relevant ideas and the newly-honed writing chops you need to make it through. You’ll also be all in on your choice of major and rounding the bend with completing an awesome list of schools to which you’ll apply. On to App Season!
App Season includes once-weekly Zoom meetings and covers up to fifteen schools (in many cases, more). Each meeting comes with a half an hour of edits of your work and follow-ups over email. This can feel like a really intense time in your life and I’ll catch you if you start to crash out! Together we’ll cross the finish line on time and without breaking too much of a sweat. After your apps are sent out, we’ll high-five and reconvene in April to consider all your options. Ahhh, the glow of getting to go to college!
Online Courses // Personal Statement is designed for rising seniors who want the convenience and affordability of an online class that teaches them how to write the most important essay of the whole application process for the Common App. What you learn in the course will also be applicable to writing all other application essays. The class comes with eight lessons delivered each week in both PDF and audio format and three rounds of feedback offered at key moments during the course (with an option to add additional rounds of edits if desired). Students either take this course or work with me one-on-one on the Common App—pick your best approach based on your budget and schedule. Reach out to be informed when the course is made available during the year, or check back in the spring!
PERSONAL STATEMENT: University of California coming soon! Reach out if you’d like to be notified upon release of the course.
Undergraduate & Young Adult Counseling // So you’re in college…and despite all the resources on campus, you still feel lost or just would really like more personalized support around making strategic moves in school and towards your future career as well as addressing all the feelings and conflicting thoughts that often come up at this time. We can work on ALL of that…and even get you in gear with internship and departmental applications. These years are important and expensive: let’s make the most of them together. Already graduated? I got you. Let’s figure out what’s next for you. Zoom meetings are one hour and can come a la carte if editing services are not needed.
Transfer Admissions Counseling // If you didn’t get into a college you were really thrilled to go to, or spent a year or two at a college that wasn’t quite right, let’s work together on applying to transfer. I know I was much happier once I took that leap, and have coached many students to do the same.
Graduate Admissions Counseling // When you know it’s time to apply for an advanced degree, reach out to me. Let’s sort your school list and map out strategy and content for all parts of your application, including personal essays, short answers, your resume, recommendation letters, and any supplemental materials you wish to include. Our pace will depend on your time frame and work load outside of these submissions, but generally I suggest meeting twice a week for two or three months to put in your most solid work and offer a combination of meetings and editing hours to get the job done. I most frequently work with those pursuing medical school or residencies, business school, applying to work in education or the field of psychology, or seeking an MFA in art, film, or performance.
